The 3rd annual Bear Booster Club fall kickoff and membership drive will be held on Friday, Aug. 13. This event begins at 4 p.m. in the high school gymnasium with the volleyball scrimmage. At 5:30 p.m. the festivities move to the softball field to showcase their talents and to meet the cross country team. The evening continues on at 7 p.m. at the football field with a performance by the Ava High School marching band, an appearance by the Ava cheerleaders and some fantastic football action by the 2010 Ava Football Bears.
Following the football action Coach Swofford will also have a short parent meeting.
The Booster Club will be offering punch cards at the volleyball scrimmage; if you attend and have your card punched at all three scrimmages, your name will be entered into a drawing for prizes including: family sports passes, sweatshirts, jackets, t-shirts and cowbells.
At the football field the Booster Club will be serving a meal of pulled pork, hamburgers and hot dogs to all of the high school athletes, band members and cheerleaders. Also, all 2010 Booster Club members and their immediate families will eat for free.
All others can purchase a meal for $5 per plate or join the Booster Club and eat for free!
All proceeds from this and every Booster Club event go right back into the Ava athletic programs.
There is a fee of $20 for each family to join the Booster Club and new members will be accepted at each of these scrimmages.
There will be a variety of Bear Wear for sale including, T-shirts for each sport, sweatshirts, jackets, coats and miscellaneous items, such as cowbells and vehicle decals. Parents will also have an opportunity to purchase spirit ads for the Booster Club program.
Everyone is invited to come out and see the teams in action and support the Booster Club in the start of a new season of high school sports.
