Ava Drug Store, Ava Art Guild Announce Winners of Poster Contest, New Contest

Ava Drug Store and Ava Art Guild had a very successful youth poster contest. There were a total of 18 entries with ages ranging from 13 years old to 5 years old.
The grand prize winner was Zoey Crandall with her graphic art design.
Two other youngsters whose entries were close behind were Christopher Cruz with a pencil drawing and Natalie Berthold with a drawing.
David Norman, owner of Ava Drug Store, was the judge and found it difficult to decide with so many great entries from the young artists of the area.
Ava Art Guild appreciates all the kids who participated and did such a great job. They are Laura Berthold, Jenna Ferguson, Lizzy Linder, Olivia Jarvis, Brianna Robertson, Noelle Butler, Lilli Ballor, Grace Roberts, Brittany Robertson, Haley Beard, Luke Manzalillo, and Ben Manzalillo.
Ava Drug and Ava Art Guild are now collaberating on another contest to celebrate 60 years of business for the Ava Drug Store, and they are now holding a contest for the adults of the area.
Norman has come up with photos of Ava residents of the past. He has collected them and they are on display in the Ava Art Guild and Gallery at 303 East Washington Ave. The public is welcome to come in and match the photos to the names. The person getting all of the names correct will win an expense paid trip to Branson, including lodging and show tickets.
In case of more than one person getting all of the names correct there will be a random drawing from the correct entries.
This is a challenging contest with some of the faces being quickly recognizable and others a lot tougher. “Even I did not know all of them and I have lived here and been in the drug store my whole life”, said David Norman.
The Ava Drug Store has a full month of fun in August to celebrate 60 years in business with every weekend being fun packed with celebrations and drawings. The public is encouraged to come out and enjoy all that will be going on every weekend in August.
“We welcome the public to come to the Ava Art Guild and Gallery to enter in this contest by naming Ava’s historical figures. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no entry fee for the contest and no admission to the gallery. While you are there take a minute to look over the fine art and gifts displayed by local artists”, said Candace Butler vice-president of the Ava Art Guild.
