Althea Rose Hampton, 79

Althea Rose Hampton, 79 years, passed to heaven on July 27, 2010 at Ozark Nursing & Care Center, Ozark, Mo.
Althea was born Nov. 13, 1930 in Creston, Iowa to Cecil and Jessie Bell (Gibson) Tindle.
She was a resident of the Ava (Goodhope) community.
On Dec. 6, 1946 Althea and Clifton Hampton were united in marriage in Creston, Iowa, and to this union seven children were born. Althea moved to Goodhope and lived there until the winter of 2009 at which time she moved to Ozark Nursing & Care Center in Ozark, Mo.
Althea enjoyed crocheting, quilting, reading, going out to eat, going to basketball games and talking on the phone with family and friends. She worked at Hagale Industries in Ozark, Mo., Spaldings, and retired from Rawlings Sporting Goods in Ava, Mo.
Althea was a Christian and enjoyed attending church with her family. Her joy was being with all of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Althea was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifton in 1995; a son, Lawrence; a stepson, Roger; infant brother, Richard; a brother, Ivan Tindle; a sister, Patty Lou Hurley; a great-granddaughter, Mandy Hampton; and three infant great-grandsons, Tyler, Derek and Daniel.
Althea is survived by six children and their spouses, Janet and Ab Watkins, Sparta, Mo., Dennis and Becky Hampton, Ava, Mo., Judy and Jim Bruton, Ozark, Mo., Becky and Donnie Davis, Ozark, Mo., Jeff and Sheila Hampton, Oldfield, Mo., and Tina and Ronnie Trent, Ava, Mo.; one stepson, Raymond Hampton and Peggy, Sparta, Mo.; 26 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bessie Mae Nissen, Des Moines, Iowa; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Althea will be Friday, July 30, at 2 p.m. at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Goodhope Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 29, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Audrey Watkins. Online condolences may be made to www.clinkingbeard funeralhome.com.
