These young men were photographed “on the walk at our home in Ava, Mo.” according to what was written on the back of the picture in 1925 by Mrs. Mac Brooks. Pictured from left are Bill Brooks, Leland Davis, Russell Ferguson and Turner Silvey. The photo was sent to David Norman, of Ava, in 1999, and was shared with the Herald for publication this week. Davis is holding a “Certificate of Award” and the young men are each holding what might be slide rules.
