Nursing, Health Care-Related Scholarships Offered By OMC, Nov. 10 Deadline

WEST PLAINS — Ozarks Medical Center will award 10 scholarships during the 2010-2011 school year to students who plan to go into the health care profession. The deadline to apply for the fall semester has passed; however, scholarships are still available for the Spring 2011 semester. The deadline to apply is Nov. 10 and scholarship applications are now available on the OMC Web site and from the OMC Human Resources Department.

Scholarship recipients will be awarded $2,500 per semester. Scholarships are renewable for up to two years with total funding of up to $10,000. Five of the scholarships will be awarded to nursing students at Missouri State University – West Plains. The remaining five will be awarded to students pursing allied health professions or other nursing programs.

The OMC scholarship program combines college scholarship funding with employment opportunities at OMC. One-year of full-time employment is required for each year the scholarship is awarded.

Scholarship eligibility includes acceptance into a nursing or allied health program leading to graduation eligibility within two years and a minimum 2.75 grade point average. The following professions are applicable for the scholarship: registered nurse (RN), licensed practical nurse (LPN), certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), pharmacist, registered radiologic technology disciplines, nuclear medicine technology disciplines, respiratory therapy, medical coders, speech language pathology, occupational therapy/occupational therapy assistant, physical therapy/physical therapy assistant, and paramedic.
