The Jacob Yeates Foundation has two main fundraisers. The first one was a Co-ed Softball Tournament that was held on June 5th at the Ava Softball field. It was a great time and the Jacob Yeates Foundation wants to thank all that participated and helped with the softball tournament. Their main fundraiser is the annual Jake Yeates Memorial Fundraiser Drag Race on July 17 at Ozark Raceway Park in Rogersville, Mo. It has been held the last week of April the last two years so if you thought you missed it this year you have not!
The 3rd Annual Jake Yeates Memorial Drag Race sponsored by Bumper to Bumper will be at Ozark Raceway Park in Rogersville, MO on July 17. The opening ceremonies will start at 6:00pm. Adults are $10 and kids 12 and under are free with an adult. There are 7 different race classes to compete in. There are two new classes this year for those that have a specialty type car. The new classes are the LS-1 Class and the Tuner Class. The other classes are Jr. Dragster, True Street Tire, Hot Street Tire, No/E and Motorcycle. They will have the run-off at the end for the Top Eliminator Overall Trophy again. And if you don’t have a ‘race car’ you can have fun with the 21.5 second race and win a nice sized trophy for not going faster than 21.5 seconds in a ¼ mile (about 35 mph). Last year a VW Bug was the winner of the 21.5 second race. They give away a free hour in the tower to watch the race up close and many more fun free giveaways at the race track. The exhibitions for the race this year are the Notorious Ridaz Stunt Motorcycle Team out of Branson , Eddie Rogers ’06 Z06 Corvette Pro-Mod with a 2500 HP blown Hemi and Jamond Haug’s ’63 Corvette Pro-Mod with a 540ci Screw Blown Hemi 3000 HP. They should be great to watch along with all the racing.
The Jacob Yeates Foundation purpose is to provide grant money to school districts so that they can help children in their district with school related financial needs. The school districts have been able to help children with shoes, glasses, field trip fees, school pictures, coats, club dues, a yearbook, hair cut, and many other items that a child needs but many times cannot have or participate in because of financial limits.
Currently there are ‘Jake Funds’ set up in 13 schools reaching a total of 7400 students in Douglas, Ozark, Wright, Howell and Christian Counties.
