Top of the Ozarks Shooting Facility Provides Safe Place for Competition, Practice

Douglas County residents now have another location to enjoy shooting sports.

The Top of the Ozarks Shooting Facility, 2030 Old Springfield Rd., Mansfield, welcomes all shooters.

At present the TOSF is open to the public every Sunday afternoon from 1 p.m. until dusk for trap and skeet shooting, weather permitting or unless a turkey shoot is scheduled.  The cost for a round of trap or skeet is $3 for members and $5 for non-members.  Membership in the TOSF is $50 per year.  While only trap and skeet are presently available, a 50-yard pistol and a 100-yard rifle range are under construction.

While the primary mission of the Top of the Ozarks Shooting Facility is to provide a safe, local and inexpensive place for local sportsman to shoot, this all-volunteer organization hosts numerous community support events such as the regional 4-H shooting contest.

They have also hosted turkey shoots to raise funds for the charitable efforts of the Norwood Masonic Temple, the American Legion, Relay for Life and Project Graduation.

The board of directors of the TOSF believes that community support is one of their primary missions.  TOSF has also hosted special training events such as the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s First Shots program for first time shooters, at no cost to attendees.

State certified Hunter Safety and National Rifle Association approved Concealed Carry and Personal Protection in the Home classes are also offered periodically.  The organization also provides a place for local non-profit groups like the 4H and Boy Scout shooting teams to practice.

TOSF hosted the Missouri Coon Hunters Association, May 6 – 8, for their annual meeting and trials.
