Ruth Marie Frye, 76 years, passed to heaven on July 5, 2010 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Mo.
Ruth was born Nov. 27, 1933 in Chandler, Okla., to Samuel and Georgia (Griffith) Pellham.
She was a resident of the Ava community for many years.
On Feb. 11, 1953, Ruth and Jim Hodges were united in marriage in Bradleyville, Mo., and to this union two children were born. Jim preceded her in death. Later, Ruth and Sam Frye were united in marriage on Dec. 18, 1992, in Ava, Mo.
Ruth was a member of the Ava General Baptist Church and worked in the church kitchen. She loved Sunday school, gardening, ceramics, doing for others and being with all of her family and especially her grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded by her parents, her first husband, James “Jim” Hodges, a granddaughter, Stephanie, and three brothers, Loren, Burl and Azel Pellham.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Sam Frye, Ava; two children, Karen Holloway, Seymour, Mo., and Kevin Hodges and wife, Sonya, Ava, Mo.; three step children, Rod Frye and wife Pat, Ashton, Ill., Nancy Hooten and husband, Jimmy, and Christine King, all of Chico, Texas; six grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one sister, Chloe Wilson, Ava, Mo.; two brothers, Palmer Pellham, Ozark, Mo., and Rolla Pellham, Ava, Mo.; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Ruth will be Friday, July 9, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Union Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 8, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn, Harvey Scott and Rev. Dwain Moore.
