LP Gas Class Will Be Held Saturday, July 10

Saturday, July 10

An LP gas class will be held in Ava on Saturday, July 10. The class is free to all area firefighters.

Classroom work will be done in the EMA Little/Tost Training Center on SE 2nd Ave., east of the Sheriff’s Office. In the evening a live burn will be conducted on the vacant lot on West Highway 14 across from Cooper Lumber Co.

It has been requested that no trucks be parked on that lot on Saturday, July 10.

Those interested in participating in the class may sign up on SEMA’s website or come by the EMA office and sign up. The class will start Saturday morning at 8 a.m. and will be an all day class, concluding with the live burn in the evening.

The LP burn on Saturday night will create a spectacular sight, with flames from the LP tank going high in the air before being extinguished by the firefighters.

There will be fire trucks, ambulances, and firefighting personnel in the area, so spectators will be asked to stay out of the training site. People may park across the highway and watch the training from a distance.  Everyone is advised that the class administrators will not be responsible for accidents or injuries to those not directly involved in the class.

The live burn is scheduled to begin around 7:30 p.m.
