Health Dept. Did Not ‘Order’ Walking Closed

The walking area at the Ava Police Station was closed to the public last Friday. The Herald has been notified, however, that the Health Department did not “order” the area closed, but only “recommended” that the city shut the area down.

The walking area, which consists of the manufacturing portion of the former Rawlings building, was closed due to bird droppings.

Police Chief Reggie Johnson said use of the building for walking has suspended indefinitely, and in the meantime efforts are being made to keep the birds from getting in the building.
