The Ava City Council promoted Trent Murray to lieutenant in the police department by a vote a 4-0 during the closed session of their June 22 meeting.
The council also voted to hire Randy Kauffman to work as a wastewater treatment plant operator.
However, Kauffman declined the offer, saying that he had found other employment.
The next regular council meeting will be Tuesday, July 13 at 5 p.m. in City Hall.
