JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The window of opportunity is closing soon for Missouri consumers to receive appliance rebates under the Energize Missouri Appliance Rebate Program.
Beginning July 1, consumers will no longer be able to reserve rebates directly online or through a toll-free number. The remaining rebates will be available only through participating retailers and installation contractors that have signed up to participate in the program. Rebates will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis until all rebate funding is depleted.
Participating retailers and installation contractors will help qualified residents reserve a rebate when a qualified appliance is purchased. Retailers and contractors provide purchasers with a rebate application form that contains a unique reservation number. Missouri residents then claim rebate funds by mailing the form along with their proof of purchase and recycling.
Of the original $5.6 million in funds for the Energize Missouri Appliance Rebate Program, less than $574,000 remains available to consumers. More than 32,000 rebates have been claimed since the program began April 19.
A limited number of rebates are still available for ENERGY STAR qualified gas furnaces, air source heat pumps, central air conditioning, high-efficiency gas storage water heaters, clothes washers and dishwashers. Appliances bearing the ENERGY STAR label are designed to use 10 to 50 percent less energy than standard appliances, resulting in ongoing utility cost savings for the consumer.
Rebate amounts for each remaining qualifying appliance include the following:
Category 1 – Space Heating: Gas Furnaces $250
Category 2 – Space Cooling: Central Air Conditioning; Air Source Heat Pumps, $200, $300;
Category 3 – Water Heating: Water Heaters – Gas Storage, $150
Category 4 – Clothes Washers
Clothes Washers $125
Category 5 – Dishwashers:
Dishwashers (tabletop models not included) $125
The maximum total rebate program eligibility for each household is $1,300.
