Deb Brown Applauded for 5 Years at WCCH

Deb Brown will be celebrated on July 1 for five years of dedicated work as administrative administrator at the Wright County Children’s Home.

She is greatly appreciated and is the day to day go-to person for all the needs of the children and the staff. She is involved with every aspect of the success of the Children’s Home including a variety of jobs such as welcoming the boys and girls, keeping records about the children, coordinating their activities and educational plans, communicating with their case managers on a daily basis, making purchases for the Home, assisting in fundraisers, and training new staff House Parents. In addition to being on call 24/7, Deb is on the phone with businesses and community folks every day and greets the many donors who deliver wonderful items and gifts to the Home.

The Children’s Home is fortunate to have a top notch professional working on behalf of the boys and girls, age 6-18, who have unfortunately been abused and neglected and who come from many counties of Missouri to stay at the emergency shelter in Norwood until they may be reunified with their family or their case managers can find an appropriate foster placement for them. Deb and all the staff including volunteers and Experience Works personnel give the children a warm and nurturing experience of safe and happy family activities.

Deb lives in Mountain Grove with her husband “Buzz” and is a native of Missouri. She has two daughters, Amy and Karey and also a grandson named Kainan. Previously she taught school, was an office manager at the Christian Psychological Center in Memphis, worked on the preschool staff at Bellevue Baptist Church and was secretary at Mid-America Seminary. She was a stay at home mom who home schooled her daughters while editing the Sunday School curriculum for Baptist Literature Board and also doing home health care in the community.

Deb attends First Baptist Church in Mountain Grove and teaches birth through two year olds in Sunday School. Additionally, she helps at church with the video presentations in the media booth on Sunday evenings. Deb is especially appreciated as she, along with the 24 hour staff, is a loving Mom to all the kids.
