Born in Douglas County, Missouri, Alvin Clifford Elliott, 80, passed away Aug. 6, 2009, at his residence in Gunnison, Colo.
He was born in Douglas County, Missouri, the son of the late Harl Elliott and Zelma Nall.
Alvin moved to Colorado in his early twenties and was soon drafted into the Army and was stationed in Virginia for two years. After his return, he owned a trucking business for 57 years in the Gunnison County.
His hobbies included fly-fishing, deep-sea fishing, hunting, bowling, traveling, enjoying time with his family, and being a member of the Elks Lodge in Gunnison, Colo.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Lou Elliott, of Gunnison, Colo.; four children, Jolene Elliott, of Gunnison, Colo., Curtis and Cathie Elliott of Gunnison, Colo., Joy and Dean Thompson of Parkersburg, W. Va., and Jeanette Elliott of Durango, Colo.; five grandchildren, Lachele Clouse, Crystal Young, Audrie Townsend and Blake and Brooke Thompson.
Survivors also include several brothers, sisters and their spouses: Lorene and Lester Thurman, Albert and Doris Elliott, Harley “Tom” and Jewell Elliott, Noble and Bonnie Lakey, Leon and Colleen Lakey, all of Ava, Dortha Elliott, of Mtn. Grove, Pauline and Robert “Bob” Ellison, Theodosia Mo., E.J. and Bonnie Lakey and Larry and Lorraine Lakey of O’Fallon, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Leo, Norman, and Perry Lakey.
