
Tom loved being with family and visiting friends George Thomas Hayes, 87 years, passed to heaven on July 27, 2009 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare with his family by his side.
Tom was born June 29, 1922 in Sikeston, Mo., to Arthur and Ethel (Duncan) Hayes.
On Dec. 19, 1944 Tom and Mary Rozell Strong were united in marriage in Okema, Okla. Tom was a carpenter, worked in a sawmill and was also a foreman in a cheese factory. He was a Christian and of the Pentecost faith. Tom loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and most of all he loved being with all his family and visiting with his friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary in 2008, son-in-law, Wesley Willis, four sisters and four brothers.
Tom is survived by seven children and their spouses, Mary Jane Swisher, Fairfax, Barbara and Bob Smith, Ava, Geraldine and B.Y. Huskey, Ava, Judy and Roger Huskey, Barry, Texas, Buddy and Sherry Hayes, Ava, Jessie Willis, Ava, and Danny and Cathy Belt, Manford, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; his buddy, Max; many nieces and nephews; four brothers-in-law and their wives; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Tom will be Friday, July 31, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Loftis Cemetery, Gainesville.
