He enjoyed cooking, auctions and traveling with his wife John H. Bressie, 75 years, passed to heaven on July 22, 2009 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, Mo. John was born Dec. 18, 1933 in Hartville, Mo., to John and Carrie (Trusty) Bressie.
On Nov. 24, 1991, John and Joanna Denney were united in marriage in Springfield, Mo. John was a resident of the Ava community since 1995, moving from Springfield. He was a retired truck driver and had worked for the Plywood Supply-Hines Lumber Co. in Springfield.
John was a member of the Gentry Church. He enjoyed cooking, attending auctions and gardening, and was an expert at sounding like a train whistle. John enjoyed traveling with his wife, Joanna.
John was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, George Bressie.
John is survived by his wife, Joanna Bressie, Ava; four stepchildren and their spouses, Judy and Rick Rarick, Cedaridge, Colo., Linda and Bill Kelley, Theodosia, Jerry and Rhonda Buchanan, Mansfield, and David and Michele Stout, Ava; nine step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; three brothers and their wives, Curt and Darlene Bressie, Republic, Frank and Gloria Bressie, Wichita, Kan., and George and Tracy Bressie, West Plains; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be Saturday, July 25, at 10 a.m. at the Denney Cemetery with a visitation preceding at 9 a.m. at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. Officiating will be the Rev. Tom Hawkins. The family requests memorials to the Denney Cemetery.
