
A lifetime resident of Ocie, who loved family and farming Hiram Leslie Henson, 75, of Theodosia, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009. He was born Jan. 1, 1934 at Ocie, Mo., the son of William McKinley and Hattie Viola (Ayers) Henson.
Hiram was a lifetime resident of Ocie. The family lives in the Henson family century home established in the 1860′s. Hiram and Jean were married Feb. 14, 1954 at Carrollton, Mo.
He served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War. He was a member of the Bryant Ridge Church at Taneyville.
He served on the Extension Board in Ozark for Farmers Home Administration for four years. He was a former member of the Missouri Cattlemen’s Assoc., and a former Mason. His life centered around 3 F’s: Family, Farming, and Four Wheeling.
Hiram is survived by his wife, Jean Henson, of the home; daughters, Bev Cook, of Ava, Cathy Dalton and husband Bill, of Ava, Dana Comstock and husband Bob, of Protem, Bobbi Terry and husband Jeff, of Theodosia, and Anita Dalton and husband Rob, of Ava; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren on the way; sisters, Merle Friend and Kathleen Friend; brothers, Ed Henson and Earl Henson; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Hattie; one sister, Opal Cardin; and one brother, Kermit Henson.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 21, at the Bryant Ridge Church at Taneyville, at 12 p.m. Visitation was 11 a.m. till service time. Memorials may be made to Henson Cemetery Fund, 773 Henson Rd., Theodosia, MO 65761. Full military honors will be performed by the KWVA.
