Gerald was loved by all Gerald L. Hendrix, 48, of Ava, departed this life Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at St. Vincent Hospital Cleveland, Ohio. He was born Feb. 24, 1961, at Mtn. Grove, the son of Glen and Lois Anderson Hendrix. On Feb. 14, 1997, he married Debbie St. John in Ava.
Gerald was a truck driver for most of his life. It has been said that dogs and children are the best judges of a person’s character; Gerald was loved by all, especially his granddaughter, “Gabby”, and his dog, “Wendy.”
The children in Debbie’s daycare were all special to him. He often shopped for clothes and toys for them. He enjoyed the cartoons with the children, especially the Disney characters. He was a multitalented person who was known to do everything from auto body to sewing. Gerald’s kindness and willingness to help anyone, anytime, anywhere will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Hendrix; two sister, Theresa J. Hendrix and Lucreta A Spence.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; two sons, Darren L. Stone and Gerald L. Junior Hendrix; one daughter, Michelle M. Haynes; two brothers, Glen Hendrix and John Hendrix; two sisters, Patricia Hendrix and Geneva Hendrix; and two grandchildren, William Taylor Blass Stone and Gabrielle Elizabeth Haynes.
He will be deeply missed by a host of friends and other relatives.
Visitation was hosted in the Ava Family Funeral Home on Friday, July 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 18, at 1 p.m., in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Ava. Burial followed in the Ava Cemetery. All arrangements were under the direction of Ava Family Funeral Home.
