Billy was an Army veteran Billy Gene Varner, 61, of Ava, passed away on Saturday, July 18, at his residence.
He was born on Sept. 19, 1947, in Jonesboro, Ark., the son of Arthur and Ruth Varner. Billy was an Army veteran, and was of the Baptist faith.
He married Elayne in Sallisaw, Okla., on Jan. 15, 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Elayne Varner of the home; daughters, Beth Lawrence and husband, Jeff of Ava, and Kimberly DeVore of Branson; six grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Varner and wife, Donna, and John Varner, all of Lake City, Ark.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at the Forsyth Whelchel Funeral Chapel on Thursday, July 23 at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family c/o Forsyth Whelchel Funeral Chapel to help defray funeral expenses.
