Virginia Lee Murray, 88

She was beautiful, stylish, creative and intelligent Virginia Lee Murray passed away on June 11, 2009, at the age of 88.

Virginia was born on July 9, 1920, in Oklahoma City, to Jessie and George Drake. Her early years were spent in Oklahoma City, and as a teenager on a trip to visit relatives in California, she met the love of her life, Wayne Murray. She married Wayne several years later and moved to California where she graduated with the Tulare Union High School Class of 1938. They began their married life in Corcoran, Calif., where Wayne was farming.

As a young wife and mother, Virginia was active in several area organizations. She served in many capacities in the Valley Children’s Hospital Guild, Thursday Club, Westside School Mother’s Club, and the Methodist Church. She was beautiful, stylish, creative and intelligent. She loved all kinds of literature and read extensively. She and Wayne enjoyed traveling and took many road trips crisscrossing the U.S. visiting family and friends.

Virginia leaves behind her husband of 72 years, Wayne Murray; three children, Michael Murray and his wife, Brenda, Bob Murray and his wife, Katie, and Susan Ball and her husband, W. Clyde Ball, M.D.; eight grandchildren, Michelle Lewis, Kelly Reis, Melissa Schroder, Marty Murray, Rob Murray, Erin Pittock, Christina Wadsworth and Caroline Avitia.
