
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend Evelyn Mae (Collins) Dickison passed away at her home on June 23, 2009.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and friend to many.
Evelyn was born at Dora, Mo. to Emery and Molly (Chambers) Collins on Jan. 15, 1928.
Evelyn attended elementary school at Bethany and Dora High School where she graduated in 1947 as valedictorian of her class.
She married John N. Dickison on March 6, 1949 at Dora and they were blessed with two daughters, Marie and Brenda
Evelyn helped her husband in the Richville store and on their farm in the eastern part of Douglas County before moving to Ava in 1962. She worked at Rawlings Mfg. from 1963-1990.
She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church where she loved to worship and fellowship with all the members and their families.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Emery and Molly Collins, husband John, brothers Ermon, Earl, and Wendol Collins, sister Dorothy Driskell, great-grandson Blaine Bristol, as well as an infant sister.
She is survived by her daughters: Marie Bristol, of Ava, and Brenda Dye and husband, Noel, of Ava; five grandchildren, Mike Bristol and wife, Chantal, of Springfield, Mo., Nicholas Byrd, Patrick Bristol, Randi Garrett, and Danielle Dye, of Ava; eight great-grandchildren, Victoria, MiKaela, Serenity, Dominick, and Cedrick Bristol, Dustin and Dylan Levesque, and Allyson Garrett; two brothers, Truman Collins and wife Jean, of Springfield. Mo., and Charles Collins and wife, Fern, of Springfield, Mo.; one brother-in-law, Lyle Dickison and wife Marybelle, of Ava.
Services for Evelyn will be Friday, June 26, at 10 a.m. at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with Pastor Tom Maples and Pastor Oren Alcorn officiating. Interment will follow in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation is today (Thursday), 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. The family requests memorials to Gideons International, Hospice Compassus (Community Hospice) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
