Loren L. Emond, Sr., 86


A veteran and served as a Marine in World War II Loren L. Emond, Sr., 86 years, passed away on June 11, 2009 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Mo.

Loren was born March 5, 1923 in Lebo, Kan., to Gomer and Pearl (Norton) Emond.

Loren was a machinist for aircraft. He was a veteran and served as a Marine in World War II. Loren was a Christian. He had recently accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized.

He was united in marriage to Lois and she preceded him in death in 2008. Loren enjoyed flying, hunting, riding motorcycles with his nephews, Jack Terhune and Kelly Jarvis. Loren had a great sense of humor and enjoyed people.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Loren L. Emond, Jr., his wife, Lois, his brother, Gerald and one sister Mildred Terhune.

Loren is survived by two sons, Denny and Gordon Gene Emond; one brother, Donny Emond, Warsaw, Mo.; four sisters, Maxine Swain, Wichita, Kan., Arlene Durham and Shirley Dunlap, both of Mansfield, Mo., and Margie Jarvis, Bolivar, Mo.; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Loren were Monday, June 15, 2 p.m. at the Ava Cemetery, Ava, Mo., with his nephew, Tom Durham officiating. Full military honors were by Douglas County American Legion Post 112 and Ava VFW Post 5993. Services were conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
