She enjoyed the country, nature, and New York Yankees Helga McKenney, the daughter of David Tielinen and Semmi (Kokko) Tielinen, was born March 6, 1923, and departed this life May 30, 2009, at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 24 days.
On Sept. 16, 1952, Helga and Richard McKenney were united in marriage in New York. To this union two children were born. She enjoyed long drives in the country, nature, lighthouses on the ocean, and was an avid New York Yankees fan. Helga was a pharmacist before her retirement.
Helga was a resident of Ava for the past four years, moving here from Long Island, N.Y.
Helga was preceded in death by her husband, Richard.
She is survived by two children, Cynthia East and husband Eric, of Ava; one son, David McKenney and wife Diana, Babylon, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Mark, Rachael, Jeffrey, Andrew and Dylan; great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Rylee; and a host of friends.
Memorial services were Wednesday, June 3, at 10 a.m., in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marty Blakey officiating. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
