True D. "Bob" Bazel, 90


A World War II veteran and served in the Army Air Force True D. “Bob” Bazel, 90 years old, passed to heaven on May 17, 2009 at his home in Ava, Mo. “Bob” was born Dec. 25, 1918, in Paola, Kan., to True and Mabell (Gentile) Bazel. He graduated from Coffeyville (Kan.) High School.

On Oct. 20, 1963, Bob and Marilyn Tourville were united in marriage in Alamogordo, N.M., and had one daughter. Bob was a retired building contractor.

Bob loved playing rummy, working crossword puzzles, and eating his bacon with horseradish and eggs every morning for breakfast. He was a World War II veteran and served in the Army Air Force. He was a Christian and a member of the Gentry Church.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Iola Ditto and Arlene Caudle; and one brother-in-law, Ben Caudle.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of the home in Ava, Mo.; a daughter, Brenda Hampel, of Mansfield, and her husband, Wes; four grandchildren, Krystina Wurtsmith, of Gaylord, Mich., Brent Hampel, of Escanaba, Mich., Katherine Adams and husband Roger, of Ava, and Ben Hampel of Mansfield; two great-grandchildren, Audra Wurtsmith, of Gaylord, Mich., and Kylie Adams of Ava; three nieces, Rita Plattor and husband, Jerry, of Artesia, N.M., Candy Merritt and husband, Ron, of Lubbock, Texas, and Trudy Kelly, of Texas; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

In lieu of services the family had a friends and family reunion on April 22, 2009 at Bob and Marilyn’s home in Ava, Mo. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus (Community Hospice) or the Salvation Army. Cremation services were conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home.
