
Conservation Agent 45 years and Army veteran – Bob loved to tell stories
Robert C. Cook, 76, passed away on May 11, 2009 in Springfield, Mo. Bob was born Sept. 27, 1932 in DeSoto, Mo., to Charles and Annie (Newcomer) Cook.
Bob was employed as a Conservation Agent with the Missouri Department of Conservation for 45 years. On Sept. 13, 1993, Bob and Andrea Jean Price were united in marriage in Arkansas. After retiring as a Conservation Agent he owned and operated with his wife, Memory Lane Antiques on the east side of the square in Ava. Bob was a veteran and served in the Army during the Korean War. Bob enjoyed people and loved telling stories. He also was an avid sports fan. He was of the Baptist faith.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Cook, Ava; a son and wife, Ron and Susan Cook, Joplin; four stepchildren, Sheri Garwacki, Lompoc, Calif., Kevin Sage, Austin, Texas, Barry Sage, Dallas, Texas, and Paul Sage, of Maryland; one step-grandson, Daniel Sage, Austin, Texas; one brother, David Cook, Tennessee; and one sister, Toni Bradford, Arkansas; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Bob will be Thursday, May 14, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Oren Alcorn officiating. Burial will be in the Ava Cemetery with full military honors by Douglas County American Legion Post 112 and Ava VFW Post 5993. Visitation was Wednesday, May 13, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home with E.J. Hampton officiating.
