Martha loved her friends, special jokes and stories Martha “Marty, Big Momma” Schneider, 74, of Yakima, Wash., died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Willow Springs.
Ms. Schneider was born May 23, 1934, in Ava, to Audy and Izoria (Carter) Jenkins. She moved to Wenatchee, Wash., in 1948, and then to Yakima in 1960.
Martha worked at J.C. Penney’s, Pay-N-Pak, and Keeler’s Medical Supply until 1985 when she bought the T&T Tavern, retiring in 1993.
Martha loved her friends, special jokes and stories. She was known by many as “Big Momma” from her son’s friends until this day. She loved traveling to Reno and going to Legends Casino until the last. Martha always offered to help, fix and build with her daughter (their love). Her constant love of family and her support was never ending and zest for fun and humor was ongoing.
Survivors include a son, Dan Smith, of Yakima, Wash.; daughter, Vicki Campbell, Yakima; five grandchildren, Morgan Campbell, Sommer Rector, Cooper Campbell, Hillary Nesary and Mallory Smith; six great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Doug Hake, Wenatchee, Wash.; and three sisters, Goldie Miller, Ora Johnson and Ruby Miller, all of Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Janine Shafford-Campbell in 2005.
The family is planning a celebration of Martha’s life for a later date.
