
He enjoyed people, and was the rock of his family Richard Lee Lansdown, 69 years, passed to heaven on April 20, 2009 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
Richard was born Oct. 25, 1939 in Douglas County, to Abner and Velma Eileen (Plumb) Lansdown.
Richard and Sue Osburn were united in marriage on March 25, 1961 in Ava, and to this union two children were born.
Richard retired after serving 40 years as a supervisor with the Missouri State Highway Department, Richard had a dairy farm for many years. After the dairy farm, he continued raising stock cattle. He attended the First Southern Baptist Church in Ava.
Richard enjoyed people and loved visiting with everyone. He was the rock of his family. He was always there for all of his friends and family. The last three and a half years of his life he had the privilege and joy of spending time with his granddaughter, Amy Jo.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sue Lansdown of the home in Ava; two children, Kim Lansdown and Rick Lansdown, both of Springfield, and bonus daughter, Jo Howard, Mansfield; one granddaughter, Amy Jo Howard, Mansfield; three brothers and their spouses, Jerry and Sharon, Ronnie and Pat and Bill and Cathy Lansdown, all of Ava; and one sister and husband, Carla and Kenneth Aborn, Ava; nieces, nephews, and a host other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Richard will be Thursday, April 23, at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation was held Wednesday, April 22, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be the Revs. Tom Maples and Oren Alcorn. Memorial donations may be made to the donors charity of choice.
