
She enjoyed sewing and made many of her husband’s shirts Deloris N. (Smith) Shelton, 77, of Ontario, Ore., passed away March 18, 2009 at Ashley Manor, Ontario, Ore.
She was born to Mennis and Allie (White) Smith, on March 8, 1932, in Buffalo, Ark. She attended school in Arkansas and Union Gap, Wash.
Deloris worked many years as a clerk in Vale and Ontario. She enjoyed playing basketball, softball and volleyball, in her younger years. Later she enjoyed sewing and made many of her husband’s shirts. Deloris became a Christian at an early age and had a strong belief in God.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brother, Nolan Smith, sister Barbara Reid and nephews Mark and Darrel Anderson.
Deloris is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lowell B. Shelton of Ontario, Ore.; two sisters, Louise (Wayne) Leedom, of Yakima, Wash., and Nina (James) Anderson of East Wenatchee, Wash.; with numerous nieces and nephews. Many thanks are offered to the caregivers (Johnnie, Drilenda, Maria and Mayela) at Ashley Manor in Ontario, and the interest taken by XL Hospice, Inc., of Payette, Idaho.
Graveside and memorial service was held at 2 p.m. at the Valley View Cemetery Vale, Ore., on March 26, 2009. Deloris has been an Oregon resident for 56 years. She was a Past Matron and life member of Vale Chapter 103, Order of the Eastern Star. She loved bowling and bowled for many Leagues, until her illness force her to retire.
