He enjoyed fishing,woodworking, friends and family Ted Laughlin, son of Ernest T. Laughlin and Frances Geneva (Rose) Laughlin, was born on Dec. 1, 1943, in Nowata, Okla., and passed away on Feb. 23, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, at the age of 65 years, 2 months and 22 days.
Ted was a resident of the Ava community for several years. He was an electrical engineer for Emerson Electric in Rogers, Ark., and Ava, Mo. He was an avid entrepreneur. Ted enjoyed fishing, cooking, the outdoors, woodworking and being with his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a half brother.
Ted’s survivors include his one son, Teddy Laughlin, of Fordland, and a daughter and spouse, Kalene and Curt Thompson, of Noel, Mo.; four grandchildren, Heather, Christina, Steven and Josh; six great-grandchildren; five brothers and sister, Ralph P. Laughlin, Ava, Frances Moore and Nancy Jo Johns, both of Blackwell, Okla., Peggy Sue Parsons, Muskogee, Okla, Edna Mae Summers, Ft. Worth, Texas; half brother, Bobby Joe Laughlin, Blackwell, Okla.; three half sisters, Rose Marie Lenglegraft, Monett, Cidney Garcia, Blackwell, Okla., and Tanda Kromn, Manhattan, Kan.; special friend, Fern Huffman; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with Pastor Les Hallmark officiating. Interment was in Laughlin Family Cemetery, Ava.
