Marvin Donald Johnson, 77

He attended school at Noble and Ava High School Marvin Donald Johnson, 77, of Caledonia, Ill., was called to his heavenly home Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009. Born Sept. 13, 1931 in Foil, Mo., he was the son of Etsel and ZelIa (Daniel) Johnson. The family bought a farm in Noble, Mo. in the late 1930s. He attended school at Noble and Ava High School.

Living and working on the farm, he left with friends from the area to find work in Rochelle and Rockford, Ill. He married Violet I. Oberg and bought a farm west of Rockford where four children were born: Fred M. Johnson, Rockford, Ill., Rebecca C. Hampton, Ava, Elizabeth A. (Lyle) Schoon, Rosco, Ill., and Donald R. (Sara) Johnson, Edgerton, Wisc.

His survivors also include eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sister, Loretta (Harry) Davidson, Gainesville, Mo., Calvin (Sandy) Johnson, McChesney Park, Ill., Troy (Gail) Johnson, Maquoketa, Iowa, and Steve (Sue) Johnson, Rockford, Ill.

He was predeceased by his wife Violet I. Oberg and his parents.

Services were held at 1 p.m. March 2, at Christenson Funeral Home, Rockford, with Rev. Melvin Swanson officiating. Burial was in the Scandinavian Cemetery, Rockford, Ill.
