
Faye loved to cook, garden and watch her bird houses
Lydia Faye Gillespie, 74, of Rocky Comfort, Mo., passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, in Lacoba Nursing Home, Monett, Mo.
She was born March 15, 1934, in Gatewood, Mo., the daughter of Leander and Lou Ella McArthur. On Aug. 12, 1952, she was united in marriage in Pocahontas, Ark., to Louis Gillespie, who survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Elaine Daniel, of Monett, and Carol Blanton and her husband, John, of Exeter, Mo.; one brother, James McArthur, of Arnold, Mo., two grandchildren, Michael Daniel and J.J. Mielke and his wife, Kim; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jerry Gillespie; one daughter, Theresa Gillespie; three grandchildren, Gwen Blanton, Sherri Barwick and Melinda Daniel; and brothers and sisters.
Faye, as most people knew her, received her education at Couch School in Oregon County, Mo. Before moving to Rocky Comfort over 30 years ago, she resided in Ava. Most of her life was spent as a dairy farmer. She loved to cook, work in her garden and watch her bird houses.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton, Mo., with Michael Daniel and Amanda Voyles officiating. Interment was in Rocky Comfort Cemetery.
