
He enjoyed a good car trade,and breakfast with friends James Thomas Bristol was born Nov. 27, 1918, the son of, Thomas Jefferson Bristol and May Martha (Hatfield) Bristol. Jim passed away on Feb. 12, 2009 in his home, Springfield, Mo., at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 15 days.
James was a resident of Springfield for the past 42 years moving from Ava in 1954. He was employed with Kraft Foods and was a cheese maker. In 1944 Jim and Tena Youngblood were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, Ark. Jim and Tena were blessed with four children.
Jim enjoyed a good car trade, often trading several times a year. He also enjoyed meeting at Estes Motors for coffee and breakfast with friends. He enjoyed his special little dog, Heidi.
Jim was baptized in Cowskin Creek and attended the Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife; two sisters, Gladys Richardson and Nancy Bristol, and a brother, Bill Bristol.
He is survived by his daughter, Helen Shackelford and Dale, Blue Springs, Mo.; three sons, Don and Cynthia Bristol, Blue Springs, Mo., Jerry and Melissa Bristol, Katy, Texas, and Pat and Jill Bristol, Springfield; one brother, Ralph Bristol, Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Lois Rush, Ava, Mo., and Lena Larsen, Columbus, Neb.; grandchildren, Teresa Kless, Robert Long, Derek Bristol, Devon Strahm, Justin Bristol, Amanda Meschi, Jimmie Luttrell, Jesse Reynolds; 11 great-grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Eula Lind, Lincoln, Neb.; and Wilda Bristol Bench, Ava, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were at 2 p.m. Monday in Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. Visitation was Monday, 1 p.m. until service time.
