Arthur Allen, 72


He enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren on adventures Arthur Chester Allen, 72 years, passed to heaven on Jan. 24, 2009 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Mo. Arthur was born Aug. 12, 1936 in Douglas County, Mo., to Carl and Zola (McCullough) Allen. He graduated from Ava High School and had attended SMSU.

On Jan. 26, 1957 Arthur and Ruby Pauline Heatherly were united in marriage in Ava, and to this union three children were born. Arthur was a employed in Ava with Rawlings Sporting Goods as a foreman for over 40 years. He had also worked with his son, Rick, at Moose Allen Archery. He loved the outdoors — to hunt, fish, shoot bow and camping. He enjoyed taking his children’s friends and their children on hunting and fishing adventures. Arthur loved his family dearly. He was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.

Arthur was preceded by his parents; his wife, Ruby Pauline Allen in 2004; and a granddaughter, Misty Dawn Allen.

Arthur is survived by three children, Ronald Eugene Allen, Ava, Richard Eugene Allen, Ava, and Janet Lynn Ream and husband, Dan, Bolivar, Mo.; seven grand¬children; Brittany, Ritchie, Matthew, Kayla, Shelby, Ethan and Eric; two great-grandchildren, Jerzie and Alyssa; one brother, Larry Allen, Cabool, Mo.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Arthur will be Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday, from noon to service time in the funeral home. Officiating was Pastor Oren Alcorn. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Assoc.
