Leva Mae Potter, 82


A Christian and had attended the Murray Church Leva Mae Potter, 82 years, passed to heaven on Jan. 5, 2009 at St. John’s Regional Health Center, Springfield. Leva was born Nov. 24, 1926 in Picher, Okla., to General and Ada (Lansdown) Graham.

Leva lived in California for many years, owned and operated a grocery store and station for many years, and also worked as a newspaper carrier for 14 years. In 1941 Leva and Marion Davis were united in marriage in Ava. To this union two children were born, Carol and Mary. On Feb. 23, 1950, Leva was united in marriage to Arlon Sudbury and to this union three sons were born, Ron, Don and Mike. Arlon preceded her in 1985.

On Feb. 25, 1988, Leva and Buster Potter were united in marriage and he preceded her in 2003. She was a Christian and had attended the Murray Church.

Leva is also preceded by her parents, one son, Dean Sudbury and one daughter, Carol Willis.

Leva is survived by three sons, Mike Sudbury, Ron Sudbury and Don Sudbury, all of Ava; one daughter, Mary Benner, Penn Valley, Calif.; an adopted granddaughter, Renee Sudbury, Ava; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Taber and Nadine Hicks, both Ava; and one brother, Kenneth Davis.

Funeral services for Leva will be today (Thursday, Jan. 8) at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Woodrow Coonce officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Wasola. Visitation was Wednesday, Jan. 7, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to www.clinkingbeardfuneralhome. com.
