
A veteran who served with the U. S. Army in World War II William Donald Philpott, 84 years, 7 months, 4 days old, passed to heaven on Dec. 23, 2008 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Mo.
Donald was born May 19, 1924 in Seymour, Mo. to Gordon and Hazel (Bowers) Philpott.
Donald was a retired firefighter captain from Ontario, Calif., for over 27 years. He graduated from Ava High School and attended college in California. He was a veteran and served with the U. S. Army in World War II. Donald and Thelma Baird were united in marriage on March 15, 1947 and to this union three sons were born. He was a Christian.
Donald was preceded by his parents.
Donald is survived by his wife, Thelma Iona Philpott, Ava, Mo.; three sons and their spouses, Jack Edward “Ed” and Janet Philpott, Mansfield, Mo., William “Bill” and Terry Philpott, Ava, Mo., and Rick and Rona Philpott, Mojave Valley, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emogene Burleson and Marion Philpott, both of Marshfield, Mo.; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Donald were Monday, Dec. 29, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Seymour Cemetery, Seymour, with military honors by Douglas County American Legion #112 and Ava VFW Post #5993.
