Founder of Regional Heartland Highland Cattle Assn Leland Robert Wolfgang was born July 16, 1949, at Eau Clair, Wisc., the son of Robert and Arlene (Zempel) Wolfgang. He departed this life Dec. 24, 2008, at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, at the age of 59 years, 5 months and 8 days.
He was united in marriage with Gloria Asmussen and since their retirement they have made their home on the farm at Tunas where he raised Scottish Highland cattle. He was a guidance counselor at the Climax Springs school system and was a member of the Missouri State Guidance Counselor Association the Missouri State Teachers Association. He was director of the American Highland Cattle Association and the founder of the Regional Heartland Highland Cattle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria, of the home; his parents, Robert and Arlene Wolfgang, of Augusta, Wisc.; a sister, LaVonne Gooden, of Perry, Okla.; a foster brother, Dennis Nelson; five nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Memorial services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, in the Montgomery-Viets Chapel, in Buffalo, with the Rev. Lawrence Holt officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Climax Springs Scholarship Fund at the funeral home.
