George Lee Taylor, 74

A farmer who enjoyed working with his horses and mules George Lee Taylor was born the son of Charlie Taylor and Velda Louthan Taylor on July 28, 1934, in Wirth, Ark., and departed this life Sept. 28, 2008, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., at the age of 74 years.

He was united in marriage Feb. 5, 1965, at Rockford, Ill., to Betty Hardcastle.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home in Scott City, Mo.; two sons, Waymon Taylor and wife, Jennifer, of Litchfield, Ill., and Bruce Taylor and wife, Robyn, of Scott City; one sister, Jane Rogers, of Pocahontas, Ark.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jimmie Taylor.

Mr. Taylor was a farmer and enjoyed working with his horses and mules.

George was employed by the City of Thayer, working for the street department for many years.

He was a Christian and a member of the Rose Hill Baptist church for many years.

He will be remembered by his family as a devoted husband, a loving and caring father and brother. He will truly be missed by all.

Memorial service for Mr. Taylor was held Sunday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Baptist Church, Thayer, with Bro. Wayne Guffey officiating. Services were under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Thayer.
