
Bob enjoyed watching his younger brother play football Bobby Gene Frye was born on June 5, 1951 in Okinawa, Japan as one of three children born to DeWaine and Tsuruko Shirado Frye, and departed this life at his home in Ava on Oct. 11, 2008, at the age of 57 years 4 months and 6 days.
Bob graduated high school in Japan and shortly thereafter moved with his family back to his father’s hometown of Ava.
A quiet individual, Bob enjoyed watching his younger brother play high school football after moving here and always enjoyed watching all kind of athletics. Bob liked fishing and hunting but most of all he enjoyed following the nieces and nephews in their athletics and lives as they grew up.
Bob is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Ray, of the home; and his brother, Jimmy and wife, Lana Frye, of Sullivan. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Dr. Sarah Frye, Aaron Ray, Erica King, Alyssa Laramie, Chris Frye, Nick Frye, Austin Frye, and Bryant King, and a host of other relatives. Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m., in Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, with the Rev. Robert Roberts officiating, with burial following in the Fannon Cemetery. Visitation was from 1 till 2 in the funeral home.
