
Blanche graduated from Ava High School in 1940 Blanche L. Elliott, daughter of Henry Mallernee and Daisy Hutchison Mallernee, was born on March 24, 1924 in Coldsprings, Mo., and passed away on Sept. 3, 2008 in Palm Beach, Fla., at the age of 84 years.
Blanche was a retired school teacher. On April 22, 1946 Blanche and John Dorrell Elliott were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, Ark., and to this union a son was born. Blanche graduated from Ava High School in 1940. She continued her education at Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Mo., Southwest State Teachers College and Drury College in Springfield, Mo. She obtained her master in education degree from Wichita State University, Wichita, Kan. The last 20 years of her teaching career were in Haysville, Kan. She was a member of the Brushyknob Church in Douglas County.
Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Lyle and H.J. “Jay” Mallernee, and two sisters, Vivian Robertson and Irene Bishop.
Survivors include her husband, John Dorrell Elliott, of Mtn. Grove; a son, John D. “Chip” Elliott Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; a cousin and lifelong close friend, Jewell Smith, of Montana; cousins Roy Mallernee, Denlow, Mo., and Norman Anderson, Norwood, Mo.; nieces, nephews, grand nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services for Blanche were held Saturday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with Jim Schudy officiating. Interment followed in Denlow Cemetery.
