Formerly of Ava Mavis (Vanfossan) Sharp, 67, formerly of Ava, died after a brief illness of lung cancer, on Aug. 13, 2008, surrounded by family in Anchorage, Alaska.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Van and Jeannie Smith, and Mike and Regina Gooley, from Thornfield; daughters, Jill Smith, Dina and son-in-law Alan Thompson, from Anchorage, Alaska; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Bruce Taylor; stepmother June Vanfossan; stepsister and brother-in-law Jan and Jerry Hurst, all of St. Joseph; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Jean Taylor; her husband, Melvin Sharp; and her mother and father, Ima and Kermit Vanfossan.
A memorial service will be held Aug. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Wyatt Park Christian Church, in St. Joseph, Mo.
