Born in Douglas County, a graduate of Ava High School Augusta (Wallace) Lansdown, 85, of Mansfield, formerly of Rock Port, Mo., passed away Aug. 16, 2008 at her daughter’s home.
She was born Aug. 12, 1923 in Douglas County, Mo., and graduated from high school in Ava. On Oct. 1, 1945 she married Ralph Russell Lansdown. He passed away in 1980.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, Albert J. and Susie J. (Pope) Wallace; a son, W. Eugene; a granddaughter; nephews Jim and Glen Wallace; and a niece Eva Wallace, whom she and Ralph raised; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her sons, Luther Wallace, of Mountain Grove, Robert and his wife, Linda Lansdown, of Mansfield, Sam and his wife Linda Lansdown of Rock Port, and James and his wife Sherry, also of Rock Port; daughters, Llawanna and her husband, Bill Hampshire, of Mansfield, and Susie and her husband, Jerial Shaw of Glenwood, Iowa; a brother, Lester Wallace, of Bettendorf, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Augusta worked for a few years at the Hen House Restaurant in Rock Port. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Services were Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Rock Port. Burial was in Hunter Cemetery.
