Ellen (Parcels) Lawson, 85

Born Jan. 12, 1923, in Brown Branch, Mo. Ellen (Parcels) Lawson, 85, of Marshall, died Friday, July 25, 2008, at Fitzgibbon Hospital. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date, following cremation.

Born Jan. 12, 1923, in Brown Branch, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Russell and Cordy Palmer Parcels. On Feb. 14, 1943, in Noble, Mo., she married Vernon (Bud) Lawson, who preceded her in death on March 3, 1998. She had lived in Marshall since 1947 and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She had worked at the International Shoe Factory and was a licensed practical nurse at the Marshall Habilitation Center. She worked as a dog groomer for more than 50 years.

Survivors include three sons, John R. Lawson and his wife, Ann, of Warsaw, Mo., and Jerry Lawson and his wife, Debby, and Ron Lawson and his wife, Mary Jo Rieth, of Marshall; seven grandchildren, Kim Malter of Malta Bend, Del and Darrin Lawson of Phoenix, Ariz., Amber Bloom of Lake Ozark, Mo., and Gary Lawson, Bobby Lawson and Meg Lawson of Marshall; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, O.D. Parcels of Marshall; a sister, Elizabeth Pointer of Marshall; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Zanes.
