Lula Mae Bloomer, 76

A lifelong resident of the Ava community Lula Mae Bloomer, daughter of Ted Jenkins and Oval (Clements) Jenkins, was born on Aug. 1, 1931, in Douglas County, Mo., and passed away in her home with her family by her side on July 18, 2008 in Ava, Mo., at the age of 76 years.

Lula Mae was a lifelong resident of the Ava community. She was a homemaker. On Aug. 13, 1949 Lula Mae and George Bloomer were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, Ark., and to this union three children were born. She was a Christian and of the Baptist faith and enjoyed reading her Bible. Lula Mae liked traveling and loved to cook for the entire family on holidays. The families favorite was macaroni salad.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Verlin and Teddy Jenkins; and her husband, George, in 1985.

Lula Mae is survived by three children and their spouses, Ronnie and Lesia Bloomer, Roger and Kandy Bloomer, all of Ava, and Debbie and Jack Hall, Springfield; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Betty Jenkins and Meredith Stamper, both of Ava; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services for Lula Mae were Monday, July 21, at 10 a.m., at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Tom Maples officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
