A veteran of the U.S. Navy Services for Therman E. Miller, 80, of LeClaire, Iowa, were held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Heesch Funeral Home, LeClaire. Burial was in Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice.
Mr. Miller died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the Riverview Manor Nursing Home in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.
He was born Sept. 10, 1927, in Brixey, Mo., the son of Claude and Doshia (Leek) Miller. Therman married the former Virginia Smotherman on March 8, 1952, in Yellville, Ark. She preceded him in death on April 21, 1998. Therman was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal as a drawbridge operator. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a former member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Davenport.
Surviving are his daughter, Gwen Dykes of LeClaire; a son, Dennis Miller of Stone Lake, Wisc.; grandchildren, Lisa (Pat) O’Connor and Matthew and Christopher Dykes, all of LeClaire; a sister, AIlie (Henderson) Gentry of Ava; brothers, Lavern (Jessie Mae) Miller of Willow Springs, Dorman (Song) Miller of Bettendorf, Iowa, Willis (Sandy) Miller of DeWitt, Iowa, and George (Deanna) Miller of Greyling, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Terry Dykes, sisters, Geneva Miller and Ola Jane Dubil, and a brother, Marvin Miller.
