Born in Ava, the daughter of Ernest and Eula Whetsten Hazel Fern Davis, 83, passed away March 6, 2008, in Riverview Manor, Ozark, after a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born March 24, 1924, in Ava, the daughter of Ernest and Eula (McJimsey) Whetsten. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Ernestine Thompson, and the father of her children, Herman Davis.
Fern is lovingly survived by her children, Carla Miles and Bob, of Cumming, Ga., Mike Davis and wife, Peggy, of Ava, and Vanessa Beard and husband, Lynn, of Ozark; one sister, Donna Durham and husband J. Lynn, of Springfield; two brothers, Norman Whetsten and wife, Dorothy, of Lampe, and Marvin Whetsten, of Springfield; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other caring relatives and many good friends.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 8, in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, with Chaplain Marcia Dodson officiating. Interment was held later in Rivermonte Mausoleum, Springfield. Visitation was held from 2 to 3 p.m., Saturday, in the funeral home.
