Prentis E. Fry, 69

Nown for kindness and care for others Mr. Prentis E. Fry, 69, of Ava, formerly of Ozark, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, in Cox South Hospital. He was born June 18, 1938, in Ozark County to James and Alta (Loftis ) Fry. On June 22, 1961, he was united in marriage to Fay Cox and to this union two children were born.

Prentis was employed by the 3M Corporation of Springfield and retired after 27 years of service and dedication. Known for his kindness and care for others, Prentis was also a God loving man. He appreciated the blessings of living in the country where he was close to nature and taught his grandsons how to fish and hunt. Prentis also grew large vegetable gardens and shared his surplus with friends and family. Prentis was a quiet man but never met a stranger and will be always remembered as a happy-go-lucky man who loved his family and appreciated life.

Prentis is survived by his wife Fay; a daughter, Vickie Carey and husband, Wes, of Ozark; a son, Victor Fry, of Branson; one brother, Preston Fry, of Oklahoma; four sisters, Stella Hicks, of Idaho, Elenor Maine, of Arkansas, Doris Mackey, of North Carolina, and Rachel Pitts and husband, John Paul, of Ava; two grandsons, Matthew and James Kaiser; numerous other relatives and several caring neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 13, with Pastor James Eakins officiating, under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial followed in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Ava. Visitation was held Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 1 to 2 p.m., in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark.
