Served with the U.S. Army during Vietnam War Jerry Lee Vonallmen, the son of Estil Vonallmen and Ruby May (Montgomery) Vonallmen, was born July 10, 1947, in West Plains, and departed this life Feb. 13, 2008 at the age of 60 years 7 months and 3 days.
On April 7, 1968, Jerry and Sandra Sue Denton were united in marriage in West Plains. Jerry and Sandra were blessed with two daughters.
Jerry served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War 1966 – l968. Jerry was employed as manager of the Wallace and Owens Grocery in Ava for many years. He was also pastor at Roy Union Church for 15 years. He enjoyed his church and preaching, playing with his granddaughter, being with his daughters and family. Jerry also enjoyed a good car trade.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Estil Vonallmen and Ruby May Montgomery Vonallmen Earls; his wife, Sandra Sue; and one brother, Billy Ray Vonallmen.
He is survived by his daughters, Melanie Lynn Whittaker and husband, Kelvin, Bradleyville, and Melinda Sue Hall and husband, Robert, Ava; one granddaughter, Hailey Sue Hall, Ava; his siblings, Shirley Earls, and husband, Jerry, West Plains, Doyle Vonallmen and wife, Juanita, Springfield, Dennis E. Vonallmen and wife Joyce, West Plains, Bonnie Caudel and her fiance, James Matlock, Harrison, Ark.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in the Ava Cemetery, with the Rev. Randy Dalton officiating. Services were under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with military service conducted by Ava V.F.W. Post 5993 and American Legion Post 112. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gideons International.
