Grew up on Bryant Creek, attended Vera Cruz Elementary Norma Jean (Vogt) Miller was born Jan. 2, 1939, to Colonel and Gladys Vogt near Evans, Missouri, and departed this life on Oct. 19, 2007, from a sudden illness.
Norma grew up on a dairy farm located on Bryant Creek and attended Vera Cruz Elementary School and Ava High School.
Norma married Johnnie Miller, their local milk hauler who grew up in the Sweden Ridge area, near Ava. They were married at Gainesville in 1955. They moved to San Bruno, Calif., and raised their family in the San Francisco Bay area. They celebrated 52 years of marriage in April 2007.
Norma loved being outdoors and enjoyed her beagles, Rusty and Lucy, hunting, fishing, gambling trips with husband and friends, family gatherings, and country music.
Norma is preceded in death by her father, Colonel Vogt.
Survivors include her mother, Gladys Vogt, of Las Vegas, Nev.; her husband, Johnnie Miller, of San Bruno, Calif.; her only child, Johnnie Ross Miller and wife Eveone, also of San Bruno, Calif.; granddaughter, Jennifer Miller, at Stanford Medical School, Stanford, Calif.; grandson, Jake Miller, at Chico State University, Chico, Calif.; brother Joe Vogt (Linda) of Las Vegas, Nev.; nephews Gary (Sarah) and Robert Vogt, of Yuba City, Calif.; lifelong childhood friend, Betty and husband Jack Retherford, of Mount Vernon, Ore.; and special friend, Gloria Radebaugh, of San Bruno, Calif.
Norma’s laugh and gentle heart will be missed by all. She will rest at Cypress Lawn Cemetery, Colma, Calif.
