Mary L. Caudill, 68

She enjoyed the beauty of nature all around her. Mary Lavon Caudill was born Jan. 1, 1940, at Roy, Mo., to Fred and Gertie Sanders Barcus. On Jan. 30, 1959, she was married to Marvin L. Caudill, and on Jan. 30, 2008, she was reunited with Marvin on their 49th wedding anniversary.

A visit to Mary’s home was truly a pleasure, whether to see all her beautiful flowers or to join her in watching all the birds she fed. She enjoyed the beauty in nature all around her. She loved outdoor activities and could often be found mushroom hunting or fishing. She was devoted to her family and it seemed she had the ability to prepare all her family’s favorite foods, from rolls to chicken and dumplings.

During her illness she never complained, and showed a sweet, peaceful attitude to all who visited her.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Gertie Barcus; her husband, Marvin; and three brothers, Wayne, Glen and Charlie Barcus.

Mary is survived by three daughters, Loretta Engelhardt and husband, Frankie, Lena Robertson and husband, Wes, and Laverna English and husband, Chad; and one son, Jerry Caudill and wife, Tammy; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of other friends and relatives.

Memorial services were conducted in the Ava Family Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Janice Robertson officiating. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Community Hospice or the American Heart Association. All arrangements were under the direction of Ava Family Funeral Home.
