She loved being with her family Doris Mae Bacorn, daughter of Noel Sutherland and Bernice Cooper Sutherland, was born on May 20, 1923, in eastern Douglas County, and passed away on Jan. 16, 2008 in Ava, at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 26 days.
Doris was a resident of the Ava community since 1962, moving from San Diego, Calif. She was a housewife and homemaker.
On July 9, 1945, Doris and Ed Bacorn were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, Ark., and to this union two children were born. Doris was a member of the Ava General Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing crossword puzzles and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan and also enjoyed watching any other college sports at all times. She loved being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and her husband, Ed in 1987.
She is survived by her two children and their spouses, Ed and Jill Bacorn, Ramona, Calif., and Linda and Vann Mitchell, Ava; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Noel and Brenda Dye, Ava, Mindy and Scott Shufelt, Ozark, Cory and Ted Gilbreth, Ramona, Calif., Derek and Nashina Bacorn, Del Mar, Calif., Holly Bacorn, Ramona, Calif., Brandy and Michael Harvill, Ava, Robyn and Robert Bash, Ramona, Calif., Brian Bacorn, Maryland, and Becky and Brad Adams, Ava; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; one brother and spouse, Calvin and Janice Sutherland, St. Genevieve; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Service for Doris will be held Monday, January 21, at 10:00 a.m. at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Oren Alcorn officiating. Interment will be in the Ava Cemetery.
